Pin punch and chisel storage

I recently just purchased a 12 piece punch and chisel set. Looking around I couldn't find to much on how to store it. I'd rather not just throw them in a drawer and have them roll around.

Preferably I'd like to keep them in the toolbox but if there are some other ideas for around the garage I'd love to hear them

So if you have any ideas could you please let me know

Small metal box, like the kind you used to be able to get socket sets in, maybe? I just have mine in a small, shallow drawer, arranged longways. There's enough other stuff in there that they don't roll anywhere.

I layed mine out lined up the the way I wanted them, measured it up and bent small trays up for them. Basically what was said above.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe modify an old drill index

The best looking way seems to be those magnetic strips, but I'd be worried about what latent magnetism can do if it gets around something to attract or repulse it

^^^ I tried that as I use a cart for my main box because I like the open top. Have one riveted to the lid and they weighed the lid down so much it wouldn't open on its own. Guess I could out it on the wall but I was also worried about them becoming magnitised

FWIW, I used the small 7-drawer Kennedy #520 machinist's chest for chisels, punches, drills, reamers, taps, dies, scribes, exacto knives, nail sets, lathe bits, mill cutters, anything small, round or flat.

Snap-on KRA15 and KRA22 Wrench organizers.
I use them for my wrenches and screwdrivers, they work well to keep everything separated. Obviously they work better for wrenches, but they do the trick for other loose rolly aroundy things.
KRA15 is for smaller wrenches and objects, KRA22 for larger. Price is decent as well.
They have double sided sticky bottoms as well, and they stay put...

I just use one drawerr of my chest dedicated for chisels, punches, roll pins, drift pins, etc.

I also have a (now vintage) Proto set in a tool roll and that works well in the bottom of a small shallow drawer, or it could be tied rolled up in a deeper drawer.

You can kind of see it in this photo, sorry it's the best shot I have right now. I made little wooden boxes with compartments to hold things like drill bits, chisels, punches, taps, etc. They are very handy.

I used one of the upper shallow drawers. I added some dividers so it tool style has it's own section.

I've got a lot of them in a canvas tool roll in my service cart, I keep my Starret punch set and Proto chisels in the packages they came in.
At home chisels and punches all live together in a small drawer.

I don't have many punches, but for mine, I made some spring holders out of spare twisted copper wire. It would look better if I'd had some wire that wasn't multistrand, but it works fine anyway.

Why would you want the lid to open on it;s own?
