Hope its not a stupid question but are all pin vices the same? I have never had one and dont know if any are recommended over the others

I wonder how the Garrett Wade ones are. But I see online review looks like Starlett is good General right in there too. Looks like one called "Pin Vice Knurledf Swiss Style Double Ended" is rated highly but i never saw a manufacturers name Weird

When they say "Swiss style", it generally means that they're a knock-off of the Bergeron Swiss made ones. Bergeron is the 'gold standard' for watchmaker's tools. Their screwdrivers, pin vises, etc., are very expensive, but they're probably worth it if you work on high-end watches for a living.

Some pin vises are mainly intended for hand use, and some are meant to be chucked in a normal drill press chuck. Pick a style that suits what you need them for. Starrett are very good; General makes OK stuff for typical hobbyist needs.
