Pinless impact sockets

so much for pinless impacts.. 2 weeks ago i posted about blowing pinned impacts up, got some gearwrench impacts and the 15/16 impact swivel blue up after 3 days. ill post pictures if the old lady lets me use her phone. not 100% it was a gearwrench but thats what the guy that was bleeding said... LOL... i should have made sure of what brand it was but today was nuts..

thanks guys... im going to try the matco pinless. I only need a few sizes. 15/16 and 1-1/8 mostly . truck springs and walking beams stuff

They all have a torque rating and some will have the torque rating printed directly on the socket. The question in my mind is are you exceeding the torque rating by using a 3/4'' drive impact wrench and stepping down to a 1/2'' drive universal impact socket using an adapter.

Here's what I suggest: try a PROTO socket; if that breaks, nothing else on earth is going to survive what you're doing.

I use a 1/2 inch MG725 pinned sockets just **** for heavy work

It's pretty evident then: swivel sockets are not the correct tool of choice. Looks like its back to the drawing board.

Engineering doesn't typically design parts to be used with swivel sockets.

We use them because we are cutting corners on process and tryin to do something faster, easier, etc or without removing obstructions. Esstentially tryin to combine breaking bolt + spinn off in one step. The answer to impact-swivel shrapnel (and OSHA nightmares, btw) is to go by the book and do it step by step...just takes a bit more time.
