We're going through it right now Mike. The cheapest way is still the old fashioned way: roll insulation and sheetrock. The cost of spray foam is insanity. We'll insulate and sheetrock my pole building for 1/4 of the quote for just spray foam. I could work in there until I'm 100 years old before I break even on the energy savings of one over the other.

PPB built mine as well. Post are 8' OC. Ceiling 10' high. I framed traditional 16" OC between the posts, even with the inside of the posts. This allowed me to use standard rolls. As for the ceiling, I paid extra for them to put the trusses 24" OC for ease of insulating and also ceiling. They were great to work with. Mine is up since April of 2014 and no issues.

if not built yet you can install 1inch or thicker sheet foam under the barn tin, our barn is up 20 + years and helps a lot plus its a thermal break to the fiberglass yes the back side of the fiberglass will get wet from sweating of the metal

if i ever build a second barn i would do the metal roof with min 1/2 foam board reason is for a thermal break will stop all of the sweating that the roof does all winter long

Good point. I had PPB put their bubble wrap stuff under the roof tin.

Bullnerd is the guy from central NJ. Look up his build, not sure who built it though.

Anybody care to share cost? I'm redoing my 2 car attached right now and seriously considering a pole barn build.

spray foam is best but highest in cost. My neighbor ripped sheets a foamboard to place horizontally between the purlins and then sandwiched full size sheets vertically over that.
I only insulated a wing of my building had 4" foam sprayed on walls and blew 12" of cellulouse onto the backside/top of my metal rib ceiling.

My build is in my sig.

30x40x10 pioneer. They did a fantastic job on the building, you'll like it.

I copied what Morton does on their buildings insulation wise.

I think all the wall blankets was around 600$, and I had some left over that I gave to a member here.

Im going to blow in the ceiling.

I would do some more research before committing to the bubble foil stuff, just my opinion.

I know this is 10 years now. Funny to see pricing of spray foam has increased big time! The price back then is half or a third. How does everyone like their pioneer pole barns all these years later ? I'm having mine done in a few weeks. 30x30x12
