For Christmas I got a Lenox 22213 PDC4R Pipe Duct Cutter from my daughter. My wife asked me if I could use a new tin snip. I thought sure as long as they were a decent quality.
So this isn’t exactly a normal set of tin snips. I don’t do any duct work or if I have I always got by with a normal set of snips.
Is there other uses for this cutter? :headscrat I plan on keeping as it was a gift.
I could always cut out one of the side cutters to convert it if necessary.

Those snips are double-cuts, and there really isn't any use for them past cutting sheet metal duct (round KD or conductor pipe). They will probably be OK with 28 ga., but will struggle with 26 ga. A good pair of offset snips will cut round pipe much better. Using them (or any snips) as a side-cutter to cut wire will ruin the blades after a few cuts, making them worthless. If you can return them without offending your daughter, I would. I used the pair of double-cuts that I bought 25 years ago one time, and I installed a lot of duct back then. They have sat at the bottom of my toolbox, untouched, since that one-time use...

cant seem to find a good picture on the internet of the jaws, and that includes the lenox site.
but - i found that this generation of lenox tin snips, the handles are uncomfortable for extended use. i gave mine away.
