Pipe Thread Gauge/Gage?

I am looking for a gauge/gage to measure pipe thread. I have LOTS of fittings I have obtained over the years at estate sales. I am OK with NPT, but some are BSPP and BSPT (I think) and many are hydraulic. Is there a gauge/gage that GJ recommends? Would pitch gauges and a caliber be enough?

Admittedly I don't run across fittings built to those standards often. I'd pick up the below, cut the cables and make a tray to store them in. Interested to see other opinions . . .

They're $40 but $10 shipping (to me at least) so pretty much the same.

Not to thread jack, but once you have a set of these, how do you validate the threads? Do you screw them in/on until they bottom out?
