I have the vim versions that go on a ratchet or an extension. They're not used a lot but they have been used,

I reached out to them a while back specially asking where they were made and never got a response.
Their adds pop up all over social media and their stuff looks ok but the pricing seems very high for what they are and apparently foreign made.
No first hand use but the price is too rich for me when I don't use pipe wrenches much and am already covered by channellocks and pipe wrenches up to 24".

Almost everything Vim sells is imported, and I'm sure these are also, so just assume Taiwan or China. The Zoro link above lists them as Taiwan, and Zoro is probably >90% accurate with COO listings.
Most of Vim's new products seem gimmicky to me, but the quality seems good. Their bit sockets are certainly excellent and are sold on several of the tool trucks. This also seems somewhat gimmicky, but I can see a use for it- like if you round a tube nut, say on a steering rack, and can't access it with a pipe wrench.
We were talking about Pipevise not VIM. I was simply saying Pipevise hide the country of origin and their pricing just seems insane to me.
Their products are hardly a new idea. I assume the patent has expired they have been around so long.

Maybe they are that good but they have a premium price for a foreign made product that is of Chinese origin. If I was using a pipe wrench all the time they maybe worth the money. For the price point they are selling them I find it hard to believe they couldn't be made in the USA. Maybe my thoughts on pricing are off base.

I cannot imagine paying that kind of money for a pipe wrench. Or any wrench, for that matter - unless I was working on a Saturn rocket.
Conventional pipe wrenches are going the way of the dinosaur - you can pick them up at junk shops for a dollar each. Ebay listings and Craigslist tool listings are glutted with pipe wrenches - and they don't sell unless you give them away - all of mine are listed for $19.99 on ebay / $15.00 on CL - with no takers.
What exactly is the advantage gained with that design?
What can that tool do that a conventional pipe wrench can not?
If it's too wide to fit into the hole, that's what big-*** groove-joint, angle-jawed pliers are for.
OR, you could always just find one of the original designs of that type of tool and save yourself a ton of money:

Last year I purchased one of their pipe vices for field work. For not having a mobile vice it worked very well. Been using it for plumbing on my rural farm in Upper Michigan. Makes repairs and new installations much easier. I am pleased so far with their pipe vice anyway. Can’t say about their pipe wrenches. I have plenty of Ridgid’s to tide me over
