Pitman arm pullers can also be used on tie rods and on small ball joints.

What is the difference between the OTC 6311 and the OTC 6497 ? They look very similar.

The ends of the jaws are different. The bottom one will not work in some instances, where the top one will work in most instances. A well rounded tool box will have both. I love spending other peoples money... :lol_hitti

The silver jawed version looks like aluminum while the black jawed version steel. I could be wrong. I used the 6497 on tie rod ends and steering dampers without issues.

OTC 6497 opens 3.250" and is for heavy duty trucks
OTC 7311 opens 2.125" and is for cars and light duty trucks
