I have a Pittsburg 3 ton aluminum jack that’s maybe 15 years old. It came with an aluminum handle. I have another of the same jack about 6 years old, that one came with a steel handle. I chatted with harbor fright customer service last year and they told me the jacks come with aluminum handles again. Can anyone confirm that? I never see the aluminum jacks on display and the pictures still look like the steel handle.

The one at my work is only a couple of years old at most, and it has an aluminum handle.
What's wrong with a steel handle? The upper steel pipe of a jack handle makes the perfect wrench extension.

Maybe the new aluminum handles are stronger. People pay extra for aluminum jacks for the lighter weight. What is the weight difference between the steel handle and the new aluminum handle?

I keep it on the work truck. The handle stays outside, and aluminum doesn’t rust. I guess I always preferred the feel of the aluminum handle too, my 15 year old one is still pretty much perfect while the 6 year old one is looking kind of rusty.

One of the things I liked about the one aluminum handle I do have is the 2 pieces are machined to fit together better than the swaged steel handle.
