I thought so too. Found some idiot in a Podunk hardware store that I guess thinks it's cool to buy them jack the price and sell them.

Yes.

They are commonly seen in crappy pawnshops, hardware stores, and the flea market also where someone buys HF stuff for resale.

Pawn shop and flea market I can see. But if you're running a small town hardware store come on. I expect better.

Huh. Isn't that pretty much what every retailer does - buy stuff and sell at a profit?

If he's finding people to buy more power to him.

Rather have HF than the "Do It Best" brand, which is extremely common in hardware stores around here, or unknown quantity store brands.

Most of the hardware stores around here tend to carry the cheapest of the cheap tools. Oh, they'll have a few Channellock pieces and a few other quality brands but the bulk of the hand tools (particularly mechanics type tools) are cheap ****.

if he has prices near harbor freight's price, then he is doing the community a favor if you have no local HF store!

several Pittsburgh tools are really nice, actually (but if you are tool snob, you miss some of the best stuff)

for example, no tool truck in the world has the tool shown below, which has saved my *** in tight situations on Japanese cars several times!

They pop up on Amazon sometimes too. Always at least 50% more expensive than harborfreight.

I have both that version and its shorter brother, they are amazing. I typically use the two common size sockets for whatever i am working on and i just fly through the project.

Just picked that tool up the other day. Looked like it could really come in handy so I grabbed it. If it saves me ONCE then it's worth the cost.

Not sure who makes it, but PRO-POINT has the same one as well.

I agree with everyone else; it makes no difference if they are buying their inventory from HF or direct from the manufacturer as it all gets marked up to make a profit. If you don't like it, then find a different source. I can tell you that in a small town you will be happy they have those HF tools when you have no other option and the gas to the nearest tool store or HF is far more than their mark up.

I've been to some backwoods towns and it's pretty common for the only gas station/grocery store to get their inventory from Wal-Mart and mark it up.
