I bought that set recently and have had good luck with them, no complaints. The finish is a bit rough/crude but for $15 you can hardly complain. I also bought the extension set. No complaints with them either.

Thanks... I have their 1/2" set and im sorta pleased with them. Like you said the finish is... umm horrible lol but they get the job done and for a price that you cant beat. Not sure how their warranty is (supposedly lifetime), been trying to break one.

I like them at work - it really takes some of the sting out of it to see a HF socket get dropped down an ore chute. I've only destroyed one, and it was more a matter of abuse than poor quality (½" drive socket adapted to a 1" gun).

Have their impacts at home and haven't had a problem with them except that they aren't thinwall sockets. Otherwise they've held up good and as far as returning things I've never had a problem with returning something.

At my work, we have them ones that came in the black metal case and they held up fine for over the last decade of hard use. Worn out one of them but had not really broken one yet as i recall. Was used on a IR2135

I would look elsewhere. I bought a set for my MG31 after having good luck with their 1/2 set. I broken 3 or 4 sockets way to easily. I remember breaking a 14mm the first time I used it. They just don't have a heavy enough wall to withstand a real 3/8 impact. They are considerably thinner than a normal 3/8 impact socket.

The only impact sockets that I have ever broken were Pittsburg brand from H.F.

I have a few select Pittsburgh 3/8 & 1/2" impact extensions and impact sockets.

Light @ home use by a former line mechanic. No complaints.

I also have CM -V- series, and SO. All good quality steel and chrome.

Spend your money wisely my friend.

Wow! Not hard to tell why that is back ordered. Do you have a set? Any pictures?

I've used them, but never owned a 3/8" drive impact set.

The Craftsman compressor I bought several years to use at Dad's shop came with a 3/8" drive air ratchet and impact gun. I took the impact to a friend's shop to play with, and he had the Enco impact sockets. I'm pretty sure he paid more than $5 for his though. We beat on them and the gun a little, and I haven't used it much since. I usually grab my 1/2" drive Earthquake and don't bother with the 3/8" impact, but when I do I use my chrome Craftsman sockets.

Might have to tack them onto my next Enco order for the heck of it... I too use chromes on the 3/8 impact. A habit I wouldn't mind at least trying to break...

Thanks for the link!

I have a bunch of HF pro 1/2 and 3/4, have not yet had any issues with them.

I did though in the mid 80s have some extensions that were junk. I put them on the impact pulling a spindle nut of a 80s dodge charger and watched the impact moving and not the nut, It was twisting the extension into a barber poll. I have not had any issues with the newer stuff....

I would pay a little more for Sunnex impacts if they are still made in Taiwan. Have a set for years that gets a little use and had fared well. If I was a pro or have even moderate use, I would avoid the HF impacts personally. Actually, if I was a pro, I would pop for the SO or Mac's used at 50% of list.

Actually, I would avoid the HF's all together if made in China. Their steel is too iffy for impact use in my opinion. Sunnex Taiwan is the best economy choice IMO.

While I was in the shop taking some other pictures I dug out one of the broken pittsburgh impact sockets. This 14mm was used once on my MG31 trying to take a bolt off my atv. Notice all the smaller cracks as well. It didn't just split in one place.

"Rugged" chrome vanadium construction

Um, no thanks. Those aren't impact sockets, just some thicker hand sockets with black paint.

Not interested in any impact socket made of CR-V.

If I am pounding on it with a hammer or impact, it is better off to be CR-MO

agreed, only the Pittsburgh Pro or old Earthquake are CR-MO. I have the 1/2" deep Metric earthquake and they're great

I've had no problems taking lug nuts off cars and trailers, and any bolt on a snowmobile. Just sayin'... I have 1/2" shallow SAE, 1/2" shallow Metric, 1/2" deep SAE, 1/2" deep Metric, 3/8" deep SAE, 3/8" deep Metric, and those cost me $40 altogether. The money I saved on that, I stuck INTO my snowmobile, the REASON I have tools in the first place...

Lucky you weren't holding onto that socket. Probably would have ruined your day...
