I worked semiconductor test equipment at my previous job. It made no sense to strip out screw on a million + dollar piece of equipment, then spend the next four hours tearing down half the machine so I could get the broken screw out, because I was using a 2 dollar screw driver. Do the expensive screw drivers strip screws? Yes. But it happens more with the cheap ones.

When a tool breaks, even money it takes the fastener head with it. The right, high quality tools just make every job go easier and faster. They just work better. It's subtle sometimes. Less stripped fasteners. Less busted knuckles.

I totally get it, if your starting out, and you need your own tools, it makes sense to get the cheapest thing you can get away with. Upgrade them as they break. You gotta watch the prices though. A 10 dollar hf ratchet is actually pretty decent, probably as good as the 20 dollar Craftsman these days (which actually isn't saying much) but if you get into the 25-35 dollar range you can get stuff like Williams and Proto. And you can get some used stuff for the price of HF, at least for the critical stuff you use every day.
