Pivotrim is better than Bump Feed

I bought a Pivotrim to replace the bump feed on my newer Ridgid 18v trimmer.
I didn't like the bump feed and I thought the re-spooling was a pain, but I was doing it wrong.
I do still prefer the pivotrim though, it's quick to load and I think the trimmer wire lasts longer.

My milwuakee bump feed works good. To reload you just pull out two arms stretched out worth of line and feed it through the head and then twist the head to wind it up. Easy as can be.

The head on my Honda HHT uses 8" to 9" lengths of string trimmer line. When they wear down, you just pull them thorough and put new ones in. Just need to keep a pair of needlenose pliers and spare strings in your pocket. Thought I was going to hate it, but its much better than the bump feeds I've used. I use .155 line in it so it lasts awhile unless I'm grinding on rocky ****.

Always thought it came from Honda, but is probably this Stens

I realized how dumb I was about the Original Bump feed. As much as I love the Pivotrim better, the original bump feed was actually easy to re-load after reading the instructions.
Was trying to save embarrassment and here I am embarrassing myself anyways.

If it's any consolation, I'd never heard of Pivotrim, and now I know what it is and can see how it would benefit some.

I use an Echo SpeedFeed head which takes about a minute to reload, so I'm good. But now I know!

I had one similar to this on my last corded trimmer and liked it as well. I just pulled the worn lines thru from the back using diagonal cutters, fed new line in from the coil and trimmed the length about 1/2" short of the guard.

I learned a much faster way to string the Stihl bump feed heads after something like 100 times of doing it a harder way. Only because I bought some new heads, happened to take one apart before the string was gone, and saw how they did it.
Now the biggest hassle is taking the heads apart.

I've had a Stihl Supercut head on my FS90R trimmer for the past 20 or so years.
Automatically feeds the line and just works. Never a crop circle left in the yard.

That Stihl trimmer has been one of the most dependable tools I've ever touched. Bought it around 2004/2005 or so, not long after we bought this place, and I've replaced the spark plug and air filter a few times, and taken out the muffler spark arrestor and burned the carbon off it & put it back a few times, and it always starts on the first pull. I've never even had to touch the choke. If I set it down running it'll just sit there and idle until it's out of fuel. And the Supercut automatic feed head makes it all the better.
