I've decided that want to mount a ceiling mounted fan and a separate ceiling mounted heater in my garage. They are kind of two different questions, so I'll split up my thinking below.
Heater:
It seems like most places I've read suggest putting the heater in a corner opposite the garage door and aiming it toward the garage door. I recently read something that suggested placing the heater in the middle of one wall and aiming it at the middle of the adjacent wall (basically aiming at a 45 degree angle). Logic was that the fan blowing over the heating element would move the air around the room then and circulate the heat better than the first arrangement. I really like the idea of this, but I don't know if it would really work that way. If I did it this way I would mount the heater in the middle of the garage door wall. My workbench and most of my tools are along the back wall (between the two man doors) and I don't really care if the area near the garage door is a little cooler.
Fan:
Attached below is a really basic layout of the garage. I want a fan for 2 purposes - to help cool in summer and circulate air in winter so condensation doesn't form (and move warm air when the heater is on). My gut instinct is to mount it above the man door, but I don't really know.
I'm looking for suggestions on placement for both the fan and heater. Below is a basic layout of the garage. Garage faces south, so the door gets direct sunlight pretty much all day long. Thanks.
