hey guys i have a 360 sqft garage that im looking to heat not sure what brands are good and why? i need an electrical heater as it has been already wired up. im new to all this and not even sure the size i need or what btu means. also im living in toronto canada where it gets pretty cold thats why i dont want to cheapout on a heater.

any help would be greatly appreciated?

Why exactly do you need to use electricity? you're garage may be wired up but that does not mean that you need to use it. IN my opinion unless you're garage is heated to let's say 55deg's all winter you are going to be working out there nearly everyday and the garage is well insulated that means the door is sealed off and you have a man door to use electric is the way to go.
If you work out there on the weekend or a few times a month and the garage is not insulated you will be better off with a propane or kerosene heater.

My neighbor heats his single car garage with a 220v wall mounted heater it works great the garage is kept between 55-60 all winter long and it doesnt cost him much to maintain that temp all winter because he has the garage insulated the door is sealed off and insulated and he uses the man door to access the garage. he is losing very little heat out of the garage and his heater doesnt run more then 2 times a day to maintain the temp.

I heat my single car garage with a 35or 40 thousand btu kerosene topedo heater it heats the garage up from 40-55 degs very quickly and I have to run it every so often to keep the temp up. It works good for me the garage is not insulated I have no man door so I open the big door everytime I go in or out and I lose alot of heat pretty quick. It cost me 15$ to heat my garage last winter I think I burnt around 3 gallons or 12 litres of kerosene to heat the garage and I am out there everyother day working on something in the winter.

The kero is best for me because it is effecint and heats the area up very quick
The electric is best for my neighbor because he sets the thermostat and forgets abought it. Both have there pros and cons we would need to have a bit more info abought you and the gargae before we could offer up the perfect way to heat you're area

yes my garage is wired for 220v.i would like to use the electric for the very reason you can just set the thermostat and leave it. does anyone of a company that makes a good wall mount heater thats electric.

Berko, Qmark, and Dayton are some good name brand electric heaters. Here's a web page that sells several of them, along with some other brands. I don't know if they'll sell to Canada or not, but you should be able to find similar heaters from a local heating contractor. Dayton, in particular, is sold through Grainger.com, and they most likely have stores up there.

Edited to add: Make sure your garage is well insulated in the ceiling and walls, and you don't have air leaks around doors and windows. Otherwise, your heat is just disappearing out into the open air.
