In May of 2014, my wife and I used my GI Bill to buy our first home. We bought a ranch style in Colorado with a 2 Car Garage that doesn't fit my Tundra. But, we love the house. For quite a few months, I only had a few hand tools, a 12v drill, and a Dremel. My father-in-law, contractor extraordinaire, used to tease me about it all the time. I simply was never really taught about tools and had no need while we lived abroad and in apartments.

For some odd reason a few months ago, I decided I wanted a bigger work bench to work on my rifles. I knew I needed power tools, and after doing a lot of research I bought a circular saw from Milwaukee. I built a big work bench and just about burned the 12v Dewalt Drill out. So, I researched again and bought a Milwaukee Impact Driver, Sawzall, and Hammer Drill.

After these purchases, I realized that I really enjoyed woodworking and building things myself. I took a good look at my little garage and realized it did not represent who I was becoming.

So, I hired my father-in-law to texture my garage for me.

He then bought a Graco Sprayer and I decided I would be the first to try it out. I tried an "accent" wall because I guess thats what people do...

(I need to put in a pic of the accent wall)

Once it was all painted up, I decided to build a new handrail for the stairs as I hated the old one. It turned out fairly well, and is very smooth and attractive.

The lights in the garage sucked and barely lit anything up. I bought two 4ft T8 ballasts to fix that. The garage was only built with...wait for it...ONE OUTLET! So, I got a buddy to come over and help me install the lights, three new outlets, and a new switch. This was not easy, or fun. I still need to put the boxes in for the last two outlets.

In the interim, I built a 500ft 3 slat livestock fence on my mom's property. I learned alot about how great the Impact Driver from Milwaukee is, and about the limitations of a circular saw when trying to make very straight cuts. I decided that, having learned a lot of new things about these tools, I would also build myself a new deck. I wanted a Miter Saw to make sure I get straight cuts, so I picked one up today. I also snagged a Milwaukee M18 Jigsaw for the deck build. With the new Miter Saw, I decided to build a Miter Saw bench. I am building this off of my own design, so wish me luck...

I am utilizing the Gladiator Track system from Lowes to store the big lawntools. I actually really like the system. It's a clean look, but honestly, it could be achieved with some 2x6's and normal screwed in attachments. Still, it works well.
