Planning a build. Need some advice as to if my goals are realistic?
I am looking for advice, comments constructive critisism ect...
Building size 36x60 17' walls
I am open to pole barns, or red steel depending on what I can get at the best price.
First the concrete slab would be 36' x 36' the remaining 36x24 would be dirt.
I plan for it to be 36 wide. I would like to section off a 12'x36'x'8' section forming a "clean storage"/possible paint booth. I would like the top of the room being 12'x36x'8' (this allows approx 1' to build the roof/floor) to be storage. accessible from the main shop via stairs.
Now the back 24' of the pole barn, I would like it to be another room. Im not even sure if this is feasible, but id like a 24'x36'x8' room with once again the above being storage. This room I am unsure as to what to do with the floor. I would like to make this into a "mancave" It would be heated and cooled when in use. filled with video games pool table poker bar ect.... but probably not year round. Could I build a wood floor? or would it be better to concrete this as well? Can this room be build without posts all over the floor? a few I can work around but im unsure if a "few" would be 3 or if this size of room would take a dozens?
In effect this would leave me a 24'wide x 36' deep shop. a 12'wide x 36'deep clean storage/paintbooth. as well as a 12'x36' and 24x36 second floor storage. I am currently in a 18x22 garage. And have worked in dads 24x30 garage. I feel that would be enough for my needs especially considering nothing would be stored in the work area it would be dedicated to projects.
I am in central Iowa, I would like to have the Concrete / building done asap before winter really hits. With the rooms being errected at a later date.
Would it make any sense to build a 36x36 with intentions to add on later? I am afraid that would never happen. Cost is a factor here, I would like to keep the initial structure/concrete cost as close to 30k as possible.
