Like others have said, consider running MC cable or conduit. We have field mice and flying squirrels out the *** and I don't think I will build another structure with Romex.

That ain't a budget. That's a f-off price
I’m still holding out that it was a mistake since they do most of my commercial work. My family has been doing business with them for longer than I’ve been alive. They are union so maybe that has something to do with it.

Our other barn built in 1906 with mostly 1970’s wiring is still working. And it’s got rats.

Location is everything but I'd probably be in the high 30's to low 40k's, but that would also include subbing out the trenching and marking it up 30% if the customer didn't want to hire a excavation company. I always give the option of taking care of the digging themselves. Most take it when they find out how much they can save. I will also let them save more by getting their own lights. I will supply linear tube fixtures and a select few styles of outdoor lights. If they want something different, they have to get them with the understanding that I won't warranty them.

I reached out to another electrician who asked what my budget was. I told them the only other quote I got was $26k. His response was "I did a 30x30 pole barn and I can tell you it was way above that.".
