I am just finishing some wiring in my garage remodel before I sheet the walls and ceiling with OSB. All off the 115-V outlets are wired and hooked up.
I used these boxes
With these mudrings for all the 115-V stuff.
I want to add one box that I can add a 230-V receptacle for a future welder or compressor use. I will be running 8-2 NM cable to the box. Not going to install a receptacle or make it live yet. Just want the cable and box there for the future. I just have a few questions.
1. Would the box and mud ring above be ok for what I am trying to do, or is there something more versatile?
2. Would there be any reason to run 8-3 instead of 8-2? Would a welder or compressor ever need 8-3?
