Check on Welding tips and tricks .com. I think he builds a downdraft table, But it could probably be modded into an arm style.

I'm looking for a set of plans for a Welding Fumes Extractor, Found a source for filters, would like to save a few bucks and build one myself.

I built this system to **** out the fumes from welding. Its works VERY well. As im welding you can see the smoke being sucked up and out. Ive got an adapter to hook to the main line that will have a damper for a piece of 25' flex that will attach to a portable hood im going to build on casters. Heres a pic

Heres my build: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225559

I have a darkroom which is 40x20. I have 2 600 cfm fans that can evacuate the hydrogen sulfide gas from some of my alt processes pretty fast.

I have vents over the sink then pipe it right outside.

I plan on doing the same for the garage.

I got the fans from Granger Supply. I made boxes and installed the fans, then just ran the exhaust to the outside.

I tell my students that even a bathroom fan is better than no fan.

good luck

E.rods, Thats a trick setup. You use it much in the winter? Does it **** all the heat our of your shop? I have been kicking around the idea of a filtration system to retain heat in winter but i think yours is just a vent right? Wondering if i'm over thinking it.

ever think of using a waist mounted filter and a mask?

or plumbing fresh air to a mask?

don't do much stick or MIG, so no big smoke problem

and all the stuff I TIG is clean......oxyacet welding/brazing I use a fan to pull fumes and blow it out the door
