We don't have a langmuir at work but even with our 5x10 there are still times where a bigger table would be nice. The 2x2 would likely be fine at home unless you start making a lot of something then it's super inconvenient. It also depends on what you want to do. For a small shop that is cutting brackets and tabs it would be awesome. For someone cranking out signs and knick knacks 20+ at a time you will hate it.
As far as stuff to make, we let employees make stuff on ours and a surprising amount of random signs get made out of 12ga. I have made forming dies for doing one off sheet metal work. Otherwise brackets, liners, anything you would use sheet steel for and want it cut out in 2 minutes rather than a couple hours.
My favorite thing I have made (if you do a lot of pipe work) is 20 ga sheet metal wraps for oddball transitions. I had one project I probably cut 20 hours of fitting time out by buzzing out a couple of pipe wraps.
