Plasma pilot arc wire

I wonder why the pilot arc wire is not bundled into the wires for the torch at the machine? Any know why they are separated?

What machine?

My Hypertherm only has two wires for the trigger and they are bundled. My guess would be so that the pilot could be controlled independently and removed easily if you are using the machine in an automated fashion.
