Finally got around to throwing together a cart to hold my plasma cutter, tombstone and some welding and grinder accessories. Basically copied the idea of ZTFAB or all-a-cart concept. Started by getting a home depot 26" tool box, (2) Harbor freight 375lb casters and some scrap 1x1.

Nice work, but I don't understand the attraction of building one huge cart. I've never needed all that equipment in one place at the same time. I've got individual carts for each machine, which makes it much easier to put the one I'm using next to where I need it.

Thanks, I wanted it all consolidated to take up less real estate in my garage.

I have one cart for all of my welding equipment (Precision Tig 225, pro Mig 180, plasma cutter, and 2 bottles (argon and argon/CO2). While having a cart for each one sounds good, I don’t have that much floor space. I like the drawers, great storage and it’s all there where you need it.

Nice build OP…I made one to hold all my stuff to…C03EADE9-75FD-4839-B8CD-A4ACBFC01895.jpeg
Nice! I was originally wanting to use a harbor freight tool chest end unit, so it would be similar to yours. But I went with home depot 26" chest, it was 1/2 the price.

But that's my point. When I'm using my MIG or plasma cutter, I need to drag it over to the car I'm working on. Given all the other **** in the way, it would be impossible to drag one huge cart around like that, especially with that huge stick welder on it. And if I had the space to maneuver that huge cart around, then having separate ones wouldn't be an issue either. And to be honest, I'm not seeing how one large cart takes up less space than individual smaller carts. Every drawer in the carts I have is full with stuff dedicated to that welder. One large cart would just be 3X larger.

Disagreed...one cart you can stack vertically or keep common items together like gloves or pliers or clamps. My cart is designed to take two bottles and two welders (the middle shelf is sized for the Miller so I could move it down if I got a second taller machine). If I tried to build two carts as compact as possible, there's no way I would be able to have a smaller footprint than just the one.

If that works for you fine, but I need a lot more storage for consumables storage than that, which is why I have separate carts for each machine. Dragging two bottles around when I only need one doesn't make sense to me either.

Pushing a cart on wheels doesn't really count as "dragging around".

Sounds like you have special requirements that the rest of us don't, that's fine, but don't preach that your way is the only way.

Run a ZTFab welding cart, that they designed for me. Its a great process they design and cut/bend everything you just weld it together. Paul the owner has great pride in his work and it shows in an awesome product. For a plasma table/cart I built this little table that works as a grinding/plasma cutting station.

Really like that plasma cart. Any more pictures of how you built it?
