Plastic backing behind garage sink

So I want to install some plastic backing behind my garage sink since I splash water a bit when I'm washing up or cleaning some larger items with the spray wand.

Ideally, I'd use a product made for such a purpose, but while wandering the aisles of the borg (Lowe's) today, I saw the textured plastic used in ceiling fluorescent lights. Looks like I could just screw a few of those behind the sink, caulk the seams with clear silicone and be good to go. Alternately, maybe using the clear silicone as an adhesive so there wouldn't be any screw holes to seal up?

I need to cover an irregular area, about a total of 32 sq. feet. I have a cable outlet and an electrical outlet to cut around (yes, it is a GFCI protected outlet).

Maybe I should tile it with RaceDeck like my floor?

The plastic covers for lights should work. They are water proof, and that is what you need. For the 120v receptacle, consider using a water tight cover approved for outdoor use where it rains. I have not seen any waterproof covers or caps for the cable receptacle, but it probably exists somewhere.

Good idea. I can probably just silicone the cable outlet plate and that'd be good enough.

Great idea on the electrical receptacle, though it is "mostly" out of the splash zone (looking at the marks on the wall anyway...).

You really want a clear plastic that's as brittle as ice?

Go to the aisle with paneling, and look at the "FRP" plastic panels. There are also plastic connections to deal with the joints and edges.

Hmmm, never saw any FRP panels, but I didn't walk every aisle. I'll check out the depot next and see what they have.

Yup, FRP panels.

Lowes stocks it as well as Home Depot. $25 per 4x8 sheet.

3rd.... FRP is your answer, get the FRP adhesive, and trim also

FRP panels are used a lot in public bathrooms and commercial kitchens. They have a pebbled texture are sanitary and easy to clean. They simply glue onto existing Sheetrock
Walls. White is the color you'll find in stock at stores like the Depot.

Due to a window in the tub / shower, I used FRP board to replace the failing Marlite & 25 years later it's still going strong, BTW the window is high enough to maintain privacy.

Plastic lighting diffusers are a poor choice, & would be a real ***** to clean.

The box stores by me typically only stock it in white or an off-white, but it is made in many colors. I know I've seen installs of it in black, and in grey. It may be a special order item.
I know I've also seen the trim pieces in matching colors.
Ask at the millwork counter at one of the box stores.

While you're at Home Depot, check out the 4X8 sheets of white board. This can be used as a "dry erase" board & is easily cut to size.
I bought a sheet & made several note boards, and used some behind my garage sink. That was about 4 years ago, and it's holding up fine.

The HD off of Flamingo on the west part of town has to have it. I just finished up a large remodel project in Caesars Palace a few months ago and I was going their to get the stuff on a weekly basis. Maybe sold out now but will get some in stock.

I vote the whiteboard or a simple shower curtain if you can stand it being floppy. either way it would work ok. I would go shower curtain so I could just throw it out instead of cleaning it

I would scarf a piece of Kydex Plastic from a Plastic Wholeseller. They will probably let you go through their scraps for free. I did. Oink, Oink.

If you have a fancy garage , go with a sheet stainless steel . Maybe big $
but nice ,clean, and last forever.

I'm thinking of the thinner 3/16" stuff here, not the thicker studless walls they offer. It's solid and I'm keeping my eye out for surplus to line the lower 4' or so of my garage!
