Plastic storage bins

I was looking for some, and found this company, good prices, very heavy duty product. I got 24 of them to try them, and just ordered another 72. I'm putting them in my bolt bin. I can stack 2 3"x8" bins on top of each other in one hole of the bolt bin, so I can get 2 sizes of bolts in per hole.

I could do with some tho, never seen anything that good on this side of the pond and I'm currently trying to sort out all my fasteners and the like. The days of the ice-cream tubs have gone for me.

I have a ton of feta cheese, coffee, yogurt, and misc plastic food containers I use for fastener storage that I feel the same way about.

Here's what I'm using them for. THey're great, don't flex at all under the weight of the bolts, and the bottoms are rounded, so they nest together fairly decent. I got labels for the bolts when I ordered the bin from fastenal. I'll be quite happy with the solution when it's done. I'm going to screw a piece of wood in the bins for dividers for the nuts/washers so I can get more in per bin with them.

putting dividers in the actual bolt bin wasn't a good solution, because my big mitts don't fit in their well enough to dig around in the back over a divider.

All in all, I'm quite happy with the end result, an enclosed, fairly small bolt bin that holds quite a bit. I'm probably going to weld a shelf for it and mount it on the wall.

Yeah, those cheap bolts are getting expensive!

It'll be nice when I fill it all in and don't have to run to the store every time I need a single stupid bolt. It's a 45 minute trip by the time I get a freaking bolt, not too mention burning two gallons of gas in the process.

I keep a dry erase board list in the garage, every time I need something, but not immediately, I put it on there, and then get that stuff when I HAVE to get something at the store. It saves gas. When I use some bolts, I'll put that quantity on the list, and pick them up next time I'm at TSC to replenish the stock.

The cheap "glad" type throw away containers work pretty well too, stack etc.

Small stuff I like the Storehouse brand suitcase type thing, clear top that seals against a movable assortment of yellow bins.

These look just like the Stanley ones Lowes sells that are made in Israel. Obvously another copy by the Chinese. Maybe not made in the USA but at least not made by people who want to kill our children or who would mold toxic waste into the plastic.

Yep, I too <3 my Stanley/Zag organizers. I saw the clones at HF and they felt much flimsier. Maybe not; at this point I'm pretty biased against HF and might be finding whatever bad quality that I look for.

Our Costco has this style on sale right now. If I had room for one, I'd pick one up. I just don't have the space!

Funny you say you are sorting hardware. I have been doing just that for a month or so myself!

Dust, Dirt and Spiders. It's been my experience in most shop environments all three get attracted to those. We have them at work both out in the garage and in a storage room. Indoors they're quite handy. In the garage, they collect the dreaded D-D-S.

take floor space.

take excess space due to the legs for stability

ugly as hell

collect dirt, grinding dust, brown recluses, black widows...

not as heavy duty


I have organizers like the ones posted in cabinets I made, but for bulk bolts, it isn't practical.

Not the same. Those have adjustable dividers instead of removable bins.
