Plastiguage affected by age?

Swapping the engine in my sister in laws car this weekend. Have to swap the intake cam because the new one isn't broached to accept the power steering pump. I wanted to Plastiguage the cam journals just to be sure. I have some Plastiguage but it's god knows how old. Think it will work ok?

Try it and see what happens. Plastigauge is polyethylene, which will eventually break down. Try it. If it smashes nicely, measure the width and the chart will give you your clearance. It can't really be wrong, because it will spread out to fit the available space. If it crumbles, it's too old.

Not that I've noticed. I always measure during mockup and use plastigauge during final assembly and the stuff I've got is probably 30 years old.
