Just started using Sketchup and trying to visualize the new garage with a lift and cabinets. I might have the dimensions a bit off because it looks like the lift takes up most of my two bays to the right.

Very neat tool; I've only scratched the surface.

A friend is very accomplished at using sketchup so he drew up my garage and the cabinets we just built. Used the cut list plug in to determine how to cut all the many, many, many...pieces. It wasn't perfect, but it is better than having to do it manually.

Pretty cool tool.

I use it at work alot. Great tool that is much fast than normal cad softwares for mock up. I have drawn scale models of entire manufacturing cells and actually had fun doing it.

I have just started using Sketchup, pretty cool, you can find a ton of objects like lifts, compressors, toolboxes, cars, etc in the online library.

Tutorials/Videos, when you just start Sketchup in the splash screen it has links to them, watch the first 3~4 and your off.

It's actually pretty easy to use. Watch the video tutorials here:

Spend some time playing with it. You'll get used to the controls pretty quickly. The best feature, honestly, is the online library. Chances are someone else has modeled a toilet, or a furnace...so you don't have to go through all the time to dimension it, and draw it up. Simply load it into your model, and plop it where it belongs.

We're buying a house in June, and i took dimensions of the floor plan of the garage. I've already got things started for how I'll be laying it out:

Can you tell I'm excited for more space?? lol It's not done yet, but it's nice to see it all laid out.

.
i just created my own model.
it was not easy, there are some redering bugs when i used push/pull tool.
if i ever do another one, it will be easier.

i see errors on my behalf when placing the horizontal brace bars between the forks.
once i figured out what i was doing, i just finished it from memory, instead of paying attention to the picture. -- i may correct some of these aesthetics some other day. overall, it is perfectly scaled, for reference.

i watched this link to learn how to make a 3D model.
