Pleasant experience at Lowes

Walked in with my 20+ year old non working Craftsman 1/4 drive ratchet and asked to take advantage of the Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. The girl at the desk looked at it said to go get a new one off the rack. I brought it back, signed the receipt and away I went. I was happy. Not bad for a tool I found in the street that gave me 20 years of service until a couple of teeth broke. Now we'll see what the quality of this new one is like.

The new Craftsman stuff in my local Lowe’s has “Made in China” stamped all over it.
And it is EXPENSIVE! Picked up a ratchet and fumbled with it and was NOT impressed.
So sad what happened to Craftsman. Can hardly justify the price and then looking at the quality.....not for me sadly.

Not my experience at my Lowes. Took my broken Kobalt pliers with a lifetime warranty. After about a half hour and three different people they gave me an 800 number to call. The were clueless. Went home and tried the number. Recorded message said Wait time 30 minutes. Gave up.

What kind of pliers? Some pliers, like diagonal cutters, are sacrificial. I always assume that they don't carry lifetime warranty. Duckbill pliers should.

Our local area Lowe's have terrible phone customer service, no matter what you call about or what dept you ask for....it just keeps ringing and then gets answered by the same phone answering cust serv rep....who then interrupts you while saying, "Hold-on" as she sends you back around the never-ending phone-ringing-but-never-answered loop....before she answers again, after a couple more minutes of the phone just ringing, and says "Hold-on" as she sends...........

Nonetheless, the returns have been very easy at our local Lowe's. We returned a $3,200 fridge after a month (cuz the Door-In-Door compartment wasn't cooling below 42~46 degrees, and the built-in computer-phone-signal diagnostics— with the LG tech service— were generating diagnostics that weren't accurate, &c), and they offered to take an additional $200 off the replacement, then another $100 off just because the Lowe's mover guys left a little itsy-bitsy, very slight scrap on one of the kitchen cabinet lowers.

I love Lowe’s compared to Home Dump.
Home Dumps are generally dingy and poorly lit like a decrepit warehouse.
Walk into a Lowe’s and it is a paradise in comparison.

I'm glad you had a good experience, I rarely do. Today for instance: 1 hour to get (2) gallons of paint mixed and (4) 2x10x14s (they had none down low, needed a forklift).

I guess it must depend on the particular Lowe's. I've always been a Home Depot guy. Things are easier to find, I know they layout and where everything is. But lately everything just seems to take longer a Home Deep. They just don't seem to have their COVID game dowm as well as Lowe's. Plus I get 5% off when I use the Lowe's card but don't get any discount with the Home Depot card.
