I have decided to redo my garage and get better organized out there.
During the past summer (due to a busy schedule and major back issues), the garage turned into a dumping ground (garage sale stuff, family reunion stuff, "need to get this out of the way so throw it in the garage" stuff.

Well, I started on phase (shelves). I still have several phases to go, since I am moving a lot of **** around in the garage as I build the benches that I need.

These are the before, as noted by car under tarp in the driveway (normally in the garage except when projects like this exist). And before you ask, I did include the pic of what is under the tarp. Not much, but it is only the beginning.

Next phase is to remove the gray shelves (where the TV sits) and move the white cabinets to that corner. I still need to paint part of that wall.

In addition, I am building a corner bench to house the TV/stereo/microwave/fridge/coffee pot, as well as provide some adequate work area.

As I stated, please be kind.

Thanks!
Kevin

Finally - a garage project I can relate to...

I know the feeling... some of the garages on here are worth more than my house...
and that does not include the cars inside of them...

I think what would really do you just is go through EVERYTHING and decide if you need it or not......especially if you have duplicates of something you only need one of....like a specific size socket or whatever....you should know what I mean

I am in the exact same mode as you right now (inlcuding the garage becoming a dumping ground). I will delay pictures until the project is done.
I have 2 car projects waitingto get going, but I promised myself not to continue until the garage was decent.
....oh and ditto on some of the garages being worth more than our entire house!!!! :wtf:
Looks like we are about the same amount along in the project.....race ya!! :bounce:

I didn't post true before pics.
However, I have seen a lot worse.. as in, there are two cars in there, but we have no idea where...

This project is actually a double-edged sword, since I am organing the basement (unfinished portion) as well. So, some stuff in the garage should and will be in the basement.

The rafters are filled with car parts (wonder where they came from), as well as the shed. When it comes to tools, some duplicates are useful. The pegboards help immensely when it comes to tool storage and organization, especially wrenches. I can see what I have and what is missing. Sockets, etc., are in the toolbox.

(Willie Parker ROCKS!)

Tim,
I would race ya, but I am missing three critical components - motor, trans, seats.
Not sure what motor is going back in, but I am aiming for around 400HP at the wheels. That, and I can't push mine very fast.

Sorry, Tim, I was thinking something else (oh, based on your sig. maybe)
Next weekend (if the GF goes out of town), I may be able to knock out quite a bit of it. Especially if I can borrow the miter saw and table saw from my dad, along with his truck.
(yes, I know I should already have those. However, for the few projects that I would need them on, I can easily borrow them from him and not worry about finding a place for more tools).

As far as the parts, they all came from the car. Once I figure out what I am going to do, I will post it for sale on some Mustang Boards and on Ebay. All of it would go back into the toy fund.

Great Idea recirculating the money into a toy fund......or possibly using it toward a huge tool chest for room for everything

The small box outside is going into the basement. Picked it up with some tools (knife, wrenches, sockets, etc. ) for $50. I have an "average" sized box in the garage (three component) and then the mobile work bench.

I have been keeping the power tools in the cases. Makes them easier to store (as well as me labeling them for "guests" of the garage. Also had to label the box in the garage, since I hated having to explain where certain tools were kept.

For what it is worth, the windows are tinted (5%) for privacy in the day and to keep the lights in the garage at night (I have 10 4' double fluorescents in there currently)
