I did my townhouse and house very similarly. The somewhat generic red stripe theme. Both have a darker bottom because it's very easy to splash things up on the wall when working on the cars or bikes... If I would have painted the entire walls white it would have been a nightmare cleaning. I used semi gloss paint and even then I have to go back and touch up the walls because I can't get a mark/stain off.

Ceilings and upper wall painted white, center fireworks stripe, lower Gibraltar gray.
All SW paint.

Pictures are also before I updated the lights. So it much brighter now, around 55k lumens of light.


Also note we are not the norm here... majority of people don't EVER think about fixing a garage up to look nice let alone put a coat of paint on the walls. Almost every house on our block with the exception of my neighbor who I helped has a plain garage with drywall and mud/tape, that ugly *** tan color that drywall is. I've been at our house now for 6 years and I still get people coming up from the street wanting to look at the "cool" garage. I've had people make comments that the garage is nicer than some of the rooms in their house...lol

Find what colors you like and then do what you think would look cool.

Yeah I should have been more clear. I'm planning on putting a stone patio outside the party door along with my new to me weber summit s-670. We have a double lot with a massive yard (for the Chicago area at least) so i plan on doing a lot of outdoor entertaining. When I do the party door is going to be open, most likely.

Definitely go with pink then. Maybe add a disco ball hooked up to the garage door opener?

To me it depends on what you are going to do in there. If all you want to do is park cars and use it to have parties in then paint it any color you want. But if you are going to work in it I would suggest a very light color. My choice would be gloss white but anything bright would be good. I can't say enough about having enough light.

heres a little known secret, you can get TOP of the line $70-80/gallon paint, from SW for $6.00

walk into SW and ask to see their 'oops' section... depending on how much they have they may just give you the paint for free just to get rid of it...

I painted the entire inside of my 2700 sq ft house with 'oops' paint. didnt cost me a penny. Tho I did buy 16 gallons of oil base Problock HS, a $800 graco sprayer and 12 gallons of ceiling paint.... and we wont mention my $650 step ladder


but seriously check out sherwin williams, $6 a gallon... for the good ****.

and while your there open a contractors acct so you get a discount and the people there actually know wtf their talking about when it comes to color choices, paints primers, power washing cleaning ect lol

I am a fan of super high gloss white walls ceiling trim everything, high gloss cleans up very easy, dust doesn't stick to it very well. I go high gloss white so I get maximum light reflection so its easier to see.

I was in the same boat so decided on the color "burnished clay", slight tan/grey...might have a little lavender undertone but ended up looking very clean and made it looked more put together. IMO it was just enough of a contrast to offset the white trim and went well with the floor color. At work now but will upload and post picture later when I get off.

I have to agree the pink wouldn't bother me that much, different isn't always bad a can be a hell of a conversation piece

I went with white to help keep things bright. I also figure it helps contrast with the things I put on the walls. In the end I figure it's not so much what color the walls are that give my garage personality, it's the things on them. =)

Example: Lakers. Gold-yellow and purple.

Do a complimentary theme in the garage since you're going to be entertaining in there. Use a darker complimentary color on the bottom and a brighter complimentary on top. The stripe separating the two can be dark.

My house is slate blue with navy doors and accent pieces and white trim...John Deere green and yellow would look kinda stupid. Go with something that compliments your color palate.

It's an individual choice, but for me bright colors are kind of exhausting. Grays are good.

That said, I went with green and tan -- with some of the stuff red. In fact, if you've got ten minutes to spare you can listen to me talk about the color of my garage. How often does that happen?
