I'd heard rumors about this terrific forum of All Things Garage, and nearly broke my keyboard getting here.

Like many of you, I adore my private work space, and would only voluntarily leave it if it were one of the demands of the kidnappers holding my brilliant and beautiful wife hostage. I grew up on a farm, so learned very early that all decisions and significant events take place in garages, including -- at least, I'm willing to bet -- most of my sibling's conceptions. And some of my own misconceptions.

We're getting ready to retire in a few years, so I'm planning my retirement Garage Mahal, sighing over plans like I once did over an illicit copy of *******. I must admit, there are some garages on this site that go from raising my eyebrows in envy to making my ******* hard.

I promise to try to be at least a contributing member, and not just an envious one.

Welcome! Scan the plans and show'em. We'll be kind-hearted (maybe) and perhaps make some suggestions to you that make sense. We'll try to keep these ideas sane so as not to replicate the '****** Effect'. lol

Not to be crass, low-brow, and sophomoric, but some of the shops/garages here do give new meaning to the quote from the movie 'Field of Dreams'. That is -

"If you build it, they will come!"

Welcome! You will enjoy the Garage Journal, but be warned, it can be addictive and in a good way.

Looking forward to reading about your build plans and what you hope to build or have built. If there was a "do over" for my project, would have taken the time to learn a 3D modeling program prior to the build rather than post build.

Good luck on your planning and on the upcoming retirement. You will have a great time.
