Hello, I am trying to find out the maker of this beautiful old jointer plane. I can't make out the letters. Does anyone recognize this maker stamp?
I want to list it on ebay but I don't know the maker. Also, it has a Spear and Jackson iron, and the chip breaker says W. Butcher. Thanks!

Take a flashlight, at a very low angle, like way off left or right, and slowly move it around, you might be able to make out the letters better.

The way the dings on the front appear to become lumps as you get real close, the letters can change appearances. Write down anything you think you see, letter options, in what order, etc, May peak someone’s interest to solve a puzzle

It was made by Spear and Jackson, they are still in business.
Just because the cutter was made by them doesn't mean the plane was made by them. Most plane makers of that time bought the cutters they used rather than making their own. Notice the marking on the front end isn't Spear & Jackson. The chipbreaker is yet another maker.

Correct. I would like to know the maker, because I might be worth more knowing that. Planes made by certain makers can be worth thousands.

Might try a rubbing too? I fiddled with that pic in photoshop but it's still hard to make anything out. Last four letters look like LNLER?

Try backing away from the screen and looking at it from 3 or 4 feet away.

Last five, yes, but I’ve never seen a name with that spelling. Doubting your L choices, especially the 2nd one. Turn up your super vision, and give it another try. Maybe LNUER, LNEER? Doing better than I was tho.

I tried the rubbing. It's too faint. I guess I'm hoping someone has seen it before and can recognize the letters.
Thanks guys.
