Hi there,

I’m a new member and I need some help please. I’ve been searching and searching for help in identifying this floor jack. I acquired it when my Dad passed away last year. After bringing this jack back down to where I live, I noticed that it was low on hydraulic floor jack oil. Filled it up, bled the air and a few days later there was a small puddle of fluid under the jack from the plunger. I need to get an o-ring kit for it but the sticker for the manufacturer and model is worn off. Please help, thanks.

P.S. I can provide more pictures if needed, thanks

Looks like Harbor Freight 2 1/4 ton floor jack.
I have one that looks just like it. Probably ~25-30 years old.

I did a search following this suggestion made to the OP and found this thread. I've abridged it to the pertinent info. Best guess is there are a lot of people who had it custom labeled. I've seen other threads here where people had the same jack, I recall someone giving me one like it as part of a deal on some engine lift tools, and at that time it wasn't worth rebuilding. The one I had was made in Japan or Taiwan as I recall. EDIT: Here my thread on it where people identified it. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142103

Below is a similar thread.

...

Here are some comparison pics I took back when I first got it. This is next to the Northern/PepBoys Big Red jack that is pretty much the exact same dimensions as the $39 HF Orange jack I also had for years and gave away to a friend that had no jack..

Sweet! I have two engine stands and engine hoist from that era also.

Looks identical to one I bought off a Mac Tools truck back in the early 1980’s. It was an import. I thought I was getting a quality jack. When it died I took it to a jack shop and the guy ran me out.

You might as well just tear it apart and take the O ring to a decent hardware store. They usually have a nice selection you can match yours up with

Thanks everyone for your help and responses. I tore it apart today and the o-ring on the plunger was bad. Took the o-ring to several stores but they could not match it up with anything they had. They were either too big, too small, too thin or too thick. I bought one that was a little bit bigger and “modified” it to work. Put it back together, bled off the air and so far so good. Hopefully tomorrow there won’t be any fluid on the garage floor.

That’s what I’m worried about, is if and when it fails. My best bet is to just purchase another floor jack. Better to be safe than sorry.

A Jack is to be used only to raise it up then put Jack Stands under it!
Even a Brand New Jack can drop un-intentionally!
