Please help me ID a machine tool/piece.

Hey guys, my father was a machinist/journeyman toolmaker for many years. Cleaning out some old tools and came across something I'm hoping you guys can help ID.

This is unmarked, appears to be a cross slide of some type?





Any idea what machine it was used on?

It's little. Did he have a small 6in lathe. Like a craftsman 109?

Hi Squash....We had no machining tools/equipment at home. Everything was at work from the 70s-early 2000s. He wouldn't let me get into the machining field, so I only have a basic knowledge of some of the machines.

It looks to be part of an x-y positioning system. Above is one style that looks to be a cousin to yours. I found it by image searching on ' atlas x-y positioning '

Thank you, Larry. Looks like mine is missing the top piece. The "hole" on the top is made to accept a threaded rod like shown in the picture you posted. I guess I have the X without the Y :dunno:
