Goin' through grand dads old stuff and came across this tool. It looks to me to be some sort of seal puller, but does anyone recognize it? I searched all 600 current listings on ebay for "vintage Blue point tool" and didn't find anything similar. I appreciate your time...

Sorry, just feeling squirrelly this morning. I’m no mechanic so I don’t know offhand. If there is a number or code on the tool you could google blue point and the numbers and it probably will come up.

There aren't any other identifying marks or part numbers on it, I suppose that would have been too easy. I can envision it removing oil seals from maybe a 50's or so brake drum. I'm not sure if Blue Point made non-automotive tools. If they did this could be anything.

I have made up a few tools for removing pressed in seals and can see how this tool could be used for that purpose. Nothing else comes to mind. I think you answered your own question.

Probably because he’s interested in having the most “eyes” see the post in order to increase chances of identifying it?

Congratulations to Bobj,

If I recall correctly, BluePoint is the Snapon House brand for tools they sell from their trucks but are not Snapon products.

I have seen BluePoint tools at tool truck prices and purchased the apparently same tool with a Lisle name on it a K-Mart.

Well done BobJ, way before my time.

And e50095, just curious if your grand dad a mechanic? Thats a pretty specific tool for a regular joe.

Anything marked Blue Point is not made by Snap On. Then again, these days a lot of things marked Snap On are not made by Snap On, never mind even in the USA. Most of the time, if you can find the OEM for the Blue Point tool, you can get it for a lot less and usually with more accessories/attachments. The Blue Point HVAC charging manifolds are made by Imperial Eastman. My IE gauges were over $100.00 less than the identical BPs, and came with the hoses and rubber gauge covers. Those are an additional fee from PB.

He was a mechanic, worked for Pepsi as a fleet mechanic. I have a picture of him standing next to a 50 or so Pepsi Chevy Sedan Delivery. He actually bought it from them at the end of its commercial life, and he took me for rides all over town in it. We had to scrape off the Pepsi logo, but it had red and blue fenders on a white body. Reminded me of an old Good Humor truck. Flat head six if I remember right, but I was like 5 so I didn't know much....

Ford had flat sixes, Chevy had OHV engine at that time.
