Hello all, I ran across a Morgan Milwaukee 289 1/2 today. It looks to be in fairly good shape and has no missing parts or damage I can tell. It had the pipe jaws too. The owner is asking 300 for it. I have a decent vice already, but would love one that was built this strong for my home garage. I realize it's hard to help price something without a picture at least, but I'm ignorant on older vice prices and if anyone with more knowledge than me on this subject could help I would GREATLY appreciate it. Is 300 a fair price for one like this in good shape? I've looked some online and have not been too successful in turning up much info. I'll be going back by there tomorrow and I would pick it up if it's worth it. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Is the 289 1/2 in question, as good of shape as this one is, not counting the two missing pipe jaws on this one?

If it is, and you are not having to pay any kind of shipping, yea I would pay $300.00 for it.---But I by nature will pay a little more than some of the guys on here, for something that I really want.---That's 175 lbs. of vise there.---So personally I think it's a good deal if the condition is what you say.

Yes it looked to be about like that. It hasn't been painted in a very long time though. It looked like it has been inside a barn/shop unused for quite some time. Everything was free and not stuck on it. I see what the asking price on that one is, but I'm curious as to what they are actually going for. Thanks for the reply.

Doesn't make any difference if painted or not, just as long as it is as good of shape as you say.---Actually that gives you a chance to restore it the way you want.

I'm not sure they still make the 289 1/2.---Charts are only showing up to 289.---I have a 289 weighing 170 lbs. that I paid $350.00 for, but I wouldn't take that for it.---Check the chart.

Well it's a sad day for me. I returned to get it today and it had already been sold. I was really excited to own such a big vise too. Oh well, I'll just have to be on the lookout for one now because after seeing a vise that size,I NEED, not want, one lol. Thanks for the help va.grouseman.
