Please help with some Miter / Mitre Saw Cabinet ideas.

We are wanting to eliminate our old Radial Arm Saw and build a cabinet that will be used as a work bench top, tool storage area underneath, and a Miter Saw station. We are thinking 6 to 8 feet in length max., and have shelves and drawers for storage in the cabinet area underneath.

So what are some crafty ideas you can share that we should consider incorporating into our cabinet?

I just put mine on an older 3 drawer base 36" tool box. 3/4 ply top. For longer board cutting I use a roller stand.

I built this a few months ago, works pretty good for what i use it for. Its really nice having a level surface on each side, the tape measure and wood stop on it are must haves in my opinion. I dont know why it so me so long to get around to building one, maybe one of these days ill get around to putting doors on it!

I may just steal this idea and alter it a bit for my use. I have a couple weeks off coming up between jobs and I want to organize my mess of a shop. One of the things I want to do is relocate some cabinets I have up higher and build something like this below it where I can stow some sh.....tuff a little more neatly.

Where did you get the stops? I like that idea as well. My saw is a Bosch and it is a bit of a PITA to move around and set up if you're only making a couple of cuts. This way I could use it whenever I need it AND be able to move it easily when I need to. Did you bother to screw yours down or does it fit snug in place so you don't have to?

Brent-- I can only direct you to the website www.stevensattachments.com. They have some great workbenches and some ideas you may want to look at. For the price point they are offering I think you would be hard pressed to buy the material and pay your employees to build one.

I just finished a bench for my metal cutting dry cut Makita. I made it portable but you may be able to glean inspiration from it.

Kreg made the one i bought. I screwed the top part down from underneath so nothing will move. I cut some 45's for some extra bracing on the back side of the fence along with setting it in a dado. Its rock solid. If you go this route you will have to cut a notch out of the 45's for the track to fit. You can see in the picture.
