Please ID this box

Can anyone tell what this box is, it needs new slides. The slides are friction and have a small piece of spring steel on each end for stops.

Yup, Snap-On. 1970's to early 1980's vintage. I own a 1980 KR bottom and top box myself. Strong little bastards. Be aware drawer slides are no longer available. If any are damaged, you'll have to repair them on your own.

I used a soft nail cut down and then peened the cut end down on my little vise for a slide that had a broken rivet. It holds the spring steel clip just fine.

Just an fyi, I would look for your model # on the backside of the chest, then give Snap on a call or email their customer service. It seems that a lot of parts on these boxes have the same part numbers, so don't lose hope yet. If you can clean the gunk off the slides there should be a part # stamped into them.

When I wrote Snap on I listed the part numbers for the runners(snap on's name for the slides) and they had them in stock. It took a little while but I've got new slides in the box I restored this summer.
Good luck and enjoy your box, they're tough old birds, but will need some TLC if you want to use it.

^^ +1, Picked up a couple of old boxes myself also had problems with some of the slides. I got my box and slide numbers and called snap on customer service. They were very helpful, and although the slides for my boxes had been discontinued and not made in awhile, the gentleman done some searching on his magical computer and came up with some numbers for slides that might work on my box. He had them sent out and in a couple of days I had some new slides and a new catalog to drool over. The new slides worked pretty good for not being intended for my box they ended up being just a little bit shorter then my old slides. Definitely worth trying hopefully it'll work out for you.
