I'm in the process of constructing a new garage and trying to investigate and procure some tems. My one nagging question at this point is regarding lighting. :shocking: I know I want a quality, electronic ballast flourescents using T-8 bulbs rated for cold weather use. My garage is detached and will only be heated when I'm working for extended periods. Price is less an issue that quality but like anyone else, I prefer reasonably priced quality gear. So the million dollar question is: Who makes a reasonably priced 8' flourescent that uses the newer ballasts, T-8 bulbs and will function when the garage is colder. Thanks

Personaly I prefer the 4' bulbs just because they are cheaper and more readly avalible around here. I installed some regular incandesant bulbs because they work better in the cold if I just need to go in and grab a tool I can flip on the incandesants. I also like the idea someone else on this board had to make lights switched on in zones instead of all or nothing

So after all that typing I don't have an answer for your orginal question

I'm pleased with the Lithonia EJ series lamps that I have. I prefer the 8' lamps if only because of the "spring-loaded" design for installation of the bulbs as opposed to the "twist-lock" design for most 4' units...
