I wired up my squirrel cage. The BLUE I left out because I believe it has something to do with a thermostat or speed control (note it goes in with the two wires from the solenoid or whatever that thing is)... I grounded to the motor body with the existing factory ground. I put the white to the 'ribbed' wire on my new cord.... I put the BLACK and RED together with the remaining 'smooth' wire and the motor started to blow... HOWEVER - after running a couple of minutes it began to have an electrical burning smell. The wires were NOT hot and I have it plugged into a trip and a GFCI. The Motor was hot to the touch. Hotter than you would want to feel for more than a second.

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT.. I used to be an Ornery *******. My post above is a very brief and basic explination and capacitors are used in alot of different applications .I would recomend a local expert opinion over what you get on a forum.
