I'm looking for high quality heavy duty pliers for a welding environment. I'm looking at the NWS pliers in the pic I attached. I'm wondering if there is something better or are they the best?:headscrat
These will be used to cut wire up to 1/8" thick and used to hold metal as hot as 500-1200 degrees Fahrenheit.

In my experience, anything with multi-compound grips is not very heat tolerant. I'd suggest looking for something with normal grips. I'm not sure if NWS makes anything, but Knipex offers their whole range in both types of grip if you're after high quality.

If you're looking for multi-compound grips because you're worried about the pliers getting hot, it takes a looooooong time for the handles to get warm even if you're holding something cherry red, and if you're holding something that hot, hopefully you're wearing gloves anyways. My $0.02.

I'm learning to keep my NWS away from hot and dirty jobs,
... fancy ergo, tool handles - are a mongrel to keep clean .. :D

Great pliers and cutters tho ..

If you're keen on the NWS ... have a look at their 62 series

Knipex is definitely up in the "best" category, imho.

my cheap pair of husky needle nose pliers from home depot have been beat on with my hammer to remove stubborn clevis pins, hair pins, all sorts of stuff and at 8 bucks I could care less if I break them. they are pretty stout for being what they are. just putting this because I see one of the sets your looking at at needle nose

The issue is, you need a set with a high melting point. Higher then your working material.
And idk any brand, besides purpos built hot works pliers.

For welding I either use piles of vice grips, or cheap pliers so I don't care if I grind/weld/melt them on accident.
