I gather there was never a Niagara stamp and the style of stamping changed when the plant was moved circa 1968 from Net York state to North Carolina production ,the 68 -77 stamp is a well defined change. Stamping ceased late 77 and etching was introduced ( which i do not like ) there are other markings mostly pre war I will take a few photos and post them. I have put up the most common post war markings the black gripped 1950-8 being late 1950s , the yellow set were from 68-77 North Carolina production, the carded 3800-8 were purchased January 1980 , the 50-7 ,and 50,7Tenite grips and the 3800-8I are all 68-77. You have raised another matter , with the Niagara buy out their was a rebranding and Logo change and new boxes were made but a lot of stuff I have bought boxed in particular dipped handle items have come in the pre Niagara boxes with additional labels like cushion grips ( using up old stock obviously) this must of been for a number of years.
Great info. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Craftsman USA 8 1/2 Inch Lineman’s Pliers Rubber Handles "C".
Is this a "geometric C" Craftsman?

This arrived today. Appears to have never been used. It's evident that nothing was done to ease the edges on the handles prior to finish plating. It bothers me just enough that I might dip these handles, which I'd not have even considered if the discomfort factor wasn't what it is.

I don’t know if any one has compared in detail this style of lineman pliers but it’s been a highly popular design, who owned the original design S&H , Utica ? Channellock?

IIR I did an analysis in this thread for who made the Craftsman linemans - check thread.

Now I'm trying to remember - I thought I had written this down somewhere - but who made pliers with this in a triangle?

Forged
Steel
USA
H

"H" for Heller? Herbrand? Hinsdale? :dunno:

I think you nailed it Mint! - it took some perusing and then more when the grip patterns weren't matching, but LS hit it with Parrot beak pliers, and the straight grip pattern on one grip also has the "H" forged in.

I don't know how many pliers is too many, but I can never have enough Vise Grips around the ol' shop, so I added two more yesterday:

The 7WR is Petersen, the 6NL is "Vise Grip The Original"--Irwin? The 6NL also has an Allen screw in place of the adjuster and the spring is an oddball replacement. I may just leave them that way.

Pliers is not something I really get into, though I do have a few favorites for certain things. That said, this pair I like for no other reason than the manufacturer. I am partial to Reed vises, also.

I am calling these “Globemaster,” though only the larger dikes have that unambiguously stamped on them. They all say “England,” and one says “Sheffield.” Some model numbers are visible. The grip pattern is what first caught my eye, combining fletching and nested diamonds. I have picked them up one at a time since then. Today I found the linesmans.
Here are the stamps, for the puzzle addicts:

The longnose are in the worst condition - utterly frozen when I got them. I beat them open and closed with liberal squirts of WD40 until they resumed their regular duties.

my dad had some of those along with his footprints and Elliott Lucas , we had a lot of British tools and the Sheffield stuff died by the early eighties. Being a British colony we had British Cars Tools and Toys readily available. The tools were always acceptable quality and at a reasonable price, and worth collecting.

I call them side cutters but with a ford stamp and love the scrolling on the handles. I wish old tools could talk!

Here are some Channellock pliers I found at a recent garage sale. I should have left the lineman’s pliers behind. For some reason a previous owner thought that grinding almost the entire surface would be a good idea.IMG_5991.jpeg
Even though I don't usually bring home the ones with the rivet these little guys are pretty useful.IMG_6043.jpeg

This is too many. Years of trips to swap meets digging in the dollar buckets, yard sales and estate sales making "piles." I keep the ones I use frequently at the front right so I don't have to dig.
