Boy glad you let me know. Might have to rethink this rack.
Almost every plier rack I looked at when I was buying plier racks had some number (typically two or three) of wider slots at the end. they do hold stuff with bigger handles better, but it's annoying if you're putting two or three racks together to fit a space. Depending on the rack and your drawers, you could cut them off, and put them all at one end or something like that.

toolboxwidget plier organizers:

Note that some are for fat grips while others are for thin grips.

Meant for screwdrivers, this type can be used for many applications and it isn't real tall.

I hate when I need a specific Plier... that I have organized... but STILL CAN"T FIND THE FRUCKER. Then I find it in a different drawer... and I wonder WHY would I have put it in that drawer of organization???

Then I find out the MRS borrowed it and just put it in the first drawer she opened with pliers in it.
So, if you tell her there is only one tool of yours she IS allowed to handle, will she no longer handle it?

Sociology study question. ;)

Every tool in my 72 drawers is hers to exploit on everything in her drawers in any room she wants whenever she desires. All I ask... use the right size tool. She keeps breaking my precision pliers when bolt cutters should be used.

My rule is:

Use whatever you want. Put it back on top of the box. I’ll put it away.

She used to do that... but got tired of me asking her..."what did you use the ball joint press for?" or "what did you cut with my $100 knipex flush side cutters?"

Instead... I assembled a useful kit... Including medium duty wire cutters, hammer, 2 screwdrivers, tape measure.

If my GF got the ball joint press out I’m far more concerned about wtf happened in the house than in my tool box xD

And at this point she just grabs the old craftsman stuff in the back left. It’s the four pieces that came with my mid 90s set: diagonals, slip joint, needle nose and channel lock style.

My Mrs loves the little Knipex cutters because her hands are small... and they are comfortable in her hand... when she is cutting 1/8" STEEL GARDEN WIRE. It takes me a MONTH to get the warranty pair. After the 2nd broken pair... I figured out what she was doing. AND WHY.

So I bought her a pair of Knipex hand held bolt cutters... she thinks they are cute... since the look just like my 3 foot pair of bolt cutters.

I attempted organization, but I have failed from having too many for my drawer. I need a bigger drawer.

I am happiest with the Ernst pliers racks. All the same spacing so you can order/group pliers how they make sense to you and you’re not locked in. If you have some real skinny ones you can double up (I was able to do that with my Gedore circlip pliers). 94093082-9C04-46BE-BE33-70B6281665CB.jpeg

I use the Tekton/Ernst as well. Pretty versatile. I have several and I don't keep them all together. A couple for electrical, a couple on my main bench and a couple in the main tool chest.

That's pretty smart using the velcro. I've been zip-tying mine, but it's king of a pain.

1/4-20 all thread and jam nut the cheap aluminum rulers from harbor freight. Got the idea from another thread. The OP I think used washers to space out the partitions. Takes some time, but you can customize the widths.IMG_9951.jpgIMG_9952.jpgIMG_9953.jpg
Great solution 👍 Whatcha cookin' up for the Big AZz Chanellocks?

I've been using these hair bands for mine that need to stay closed.

I use a 1/2 to 1" wide piece of bike inner tube. I try to remember to take it off when I pull the pliers from the drawer, and leave it in the pliers spot, so I don't lose it by carrying it to the work.

I have a few inner tubes that were irreparable in a couple different diameters. I cut pieces off to use as rubber bands, pick the right size, can control tension by using a wider or narrower one. Works very well for stuff in the pretty limited range of stretch, and last pretty much forever, unlike regular rubber bands.

I basically do the same thing. I use 1/4” pex cut to size as my spacers, and 1 1/2”x1/8” AL flat bar as the dividers. Works great.

How deep are the drawers that are shown. I have a KR 655 and a KR 660. I keep pliers in the top drawer on their side (stacked if need be). I don’t think the top drawer is deep enough for them to stand on their edge. The top drawer seems to be the most practical for me.

I have mostly the Ernst racks with a couple GW adjustable for the odd stuff.

Here is my main drawer with Ernst, mostly arranged by brand:

This drawer is overflow and odd stuff with the GW organizer.

The electrical drawer has one GW also:

I like the flexibility of pegboard for some things, but it's terribly frustrating for pliers or other things that tend to get a lot of use. I welded this up to vertically store the pliers "on" my pegboard wall above the workbench. I had some spare 1" and 1.5" square tube that I cut to length and welded side-by-side. A few of my larger pliers and less-used eagle grips are actually hung on the pegboard, but this is the most commonly used set. pliers.png

I like the use of the square tubing for pencils and markers

Yeah, it has turned out to be a great solution - a little too good because I have them all full now and should have used double the number! 🤦‍♂️

Just two screwdrivers? What about the other 1,998 drivers, are they off limits?

After all @BlakeTheCarGuy has 2000, sockets, try organizing that..:D
I am talking about the "Tool Kit" i slapped together for the MRS to use. Her personal go to tools. Anything she would encounter with a strange fastener... she would ask me. It was all done to prevent her from using my Knipex Flush Cut Pliers on STEEL botanical wire. Or using my #1 Wera Phillips in a #3 screw (spinning out).

Her tool selection had/has nothing to do with the tool matching the task... instead she would pick the cutest tool for her interpretation of the task. She picks smaller tools to "Fit in her hand" better ... rather than selecting the correct size.

This is my formerly "P" drawer - pliers, punches, prybars. The prybars have since been moved and the punches are being squeezed out. I organize by type, with most frequently used at the front of the drawer. Personally I almost don't reach for the Knipex at all anymore. Haven't had great luck with their gripping abilities, and my Kleins and Snap-Ons cut way better than any of the Knipex I've owned. Also I've since added a set of the snap on convertible snap ring pliers so I'm basically out of room.

I bought these two Tekton screw driver holders but did not like how they would work with my drivers. If the drivers are close to the same length it would be fine but I have short to long and it wasted a lot of space. So I repurposed them to use on my small "ignitian wrenches" and put them in my specialty tool drawer. I never went to them very often but I could have. I think the small pouches they are in was a deterrrent . Now they are more accessable and I think I will use them more often. I admit this could be more compact. They only hold 8 per holder and the ignician wrench kits are 10 each. The very small ones I likely would never use. Under 5 mm or 3/16.

What do people like for drawer screw driver holders?
