^ Like they said - these work pretty when there's room... but I still use a razor blade to cut hoses off of heater core stub outs.I've got three or four sizes of those, LOTS of sizes and types of picks, and use one of the Lisle hose remover pliers if I can get access and it works ok even on larger hoses by pushing the hose off the fitting.

The description says it works on hose up to 1/2", would they work on 1" hoses like the OP has?
I want one of those hose pliers ... a google search shows it is only available in Europe ..![]()
The guys at work use aviation cannon plug pliers to remove hoses without destroying them. A google search will find them for you.

I work on semis and have to do alot of warranty work on coolant system. dose anyone make a set of pliers that you can wiggle the hoses off with, that wont tear up the hoses? im dealing with 1 in id heater hose.
