I need some help on this recent acquisition, a circa 1941-42 partial Plomb 4700 midget set…
So, nothing unusual about the box with these markings and the OD (“GREEN”) crinkle finish (instead of the “brilliant Chinese Red” they had originally planned).
And there’s nothing unusual about the 4749 ratchet.
But two of the 47XX series sockets have some strange model numbers.
These two, in particular…
Here are the sockets with model numbers that match the 19R catalog:
4707, 7/32, 6-point
4708, 1/4, 6-point
4708 S, 1/4, 8-point
4709, 9/32, 6-point
4712, 3/8, 6-point
Here are the two odd sockets:
4710 H (or possibly a worn R), 5/16, 6-point
4710 K-S, 5/16, 8-point
Anybody know what the H or R and the K-S signifies?
S is typically used across industry for an 8-point socket. And Plomb adhered (as in the 4708 S above). But I’ve never seen a K-S or an H or R.
