I have been looking for a PLOMB pebble for ages and today I got really lucky when a walk through a second hand shop turned up a few neat tools in the dollar bin,,,
a MAC M6F 1/4" breaker
Craftsman =v= 1/2 - 7/16 double box
a GRAY Canada 1" 6 pt deep half drive
a Snappy Ferret F70N ( 1941)
and the cleanest silky smooth ...unscuffed, un burnished... unmolested ... **** as heck... 5249!!

.... all for 5 bucks!! :)

Nice find. And for $5.00.... yes, "you ****"! That's just not right :mad:

I recently picked up a Plomb 5468 18" 1/2" drive extension (c. 1940) and two very sturdy old Jorgenson 5" c-clamps down in Bellingham- but I got taken (comparitively speaking): $20.00. Still, as someone said, "There's no tool like an old tool."

I'd never heard of Plomb but found some useful info here. And I found a 1940 Plomb catalog online here.

Lovely Plomb ratchet. I have at least 10 Plomb pebble ratchets, and none are as unblemished as that one.

You should check out the "show us your plomb" thread in the vintage tool section here! I and many others have contributed there and hopefully have made more folks aware of the awesome brand of plomb! Really nice find!

Here is a link to the thread

say goodbye to about 3 hrs of your life :)

I have .. but this was worth posting!! a few years ago my stepmother gave me a box of her dads tools that included a bunch of Proto L.A. chisels and wrenches from the late 40s.... and I was hooked. thought this was worth sharing because of the condition.

cheers

Unbelievable! Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
Problem now is, can you actually use a collectable tool that is in that kind of pristine condition? I don't think I could. That looks factory fresh....:thumbup:
Oh, yeah, You Definitely **** for that one.
