I was rummaging through my Plomb stuff earlier and came upon this Proto LA flare nut wrench. Even something this tiny, which was put on tiny versions of the patented electroplating rack, used the same principle. Two arms for the piece to sit on, one arm to clamp it down. But it looks like they put some of these - this one at least - on their edges! See Pics 3 & 4.

As I reported at the end of my c. 1950 PENENS Master Wrench Set and Box thread, linked here, I found a PENENS No. 1678 1/2-inch drive Siding Tee at the flea market this morning. What I didn't say is that you'll never guess what I found on it. Yup. The classic Plomb plating rack burn marks, two from the holders and one smack dab in the middle of those on the other side from the clamp that squeezed the tool on to the holders.
