Plomb Logo Reproduction

So I've recently acquired the Plomb bug... I can see my new addiction coming on, and my wife has no idea how bad it's probably going to be!

I have a 9989 Master Tool Chest that I'd like to get a reproduction logo for. Anybody here do that kind of thing, or know where I can get one? I've searched around, but haven't found anything other than people talking about it. No luck on actually finding one, or finding someone who can do it.

Thanks in advance!

subscribed, cause there's a few old logo's I'm in need of myself.

If you can get a good pic of the logo your looking for, I could try to recreate it in illustrator... been years since I've used it regularly.

Mine is basically just a stain left on the inside lid! No photo from there... It does have a tattered paper with either a unit conversion sheet, or a tap & die reference on there. It's too far gone to tell for sure. It looks like it's been on there for at least twice as long as I've been alive, but I'm not sure if that was factory or something the previous owner glued to the inside. It's very well positioned and squared up if it's something that wasn't factory though.

I will PM you if I find any logos somewhere (if it isn't mentioned on this thread). I'm looking into the HF powder coating system to restore it. Any thoughts on that?

Do you have a big *** oven for the powder coat? I would just paint it, but that's me. Look for member thundermug here, he made me a repro logo for a project a while back and the quality/price was great.

I know it'd probably be better to pay someone else to do it, or just paint it...

But....
1. I rarely turn down the opportunity to buy a new tool or two (PC setup and soda blaster in this case). I will have plenty of other uses for them, plus I have a co-worker that would use the PC setup too.
2. I enjoy the journey as much as the destination. I'd like to say I did the restoration on the box, and I think the PC will hold up better than paint since I'll actually put it back in service once I'm done with it. Just like guns, even if I have way too many by some people's standards, I always have a use for the tools I have. No shop (or safe) queens that never get used for me!

As far as a PC oven, I'm thinking about building one. If that doesn't happen, I do have other ways of baking it that don't involve the wife's new KitchenAid range... That would be the end of me!

Here are some logos that I prepped for shirt work... most of the prep work on the logos is done... all the color matching, filing, etc... just need to print them.

We'll get there - I'm just always so busy with work and more pressing projects that this has been a long and slow one in the crock pot.

Steven, just to clarify, are these logos ready to go on a toolbox as well? I know they were prepped for tee shirts, but if they're good for a toolbox, that'd be awesome!

They could be ready for a tool box as well, they were hi res photos taken from catalogs and good condition decals that I had.

They could be printed onto vinyl, but for a more authentic look you'd need to find a printer that could to water slide type decals.

Yeah, I agree with you on that... The water-slide decals would probably look better.
Let me know when you do a batch of tee shirts though. I'd like to get one from you.

Will do - shoot me a PM if you're interested in shirts... no promises on TAT, but that way I'll least have a good list of who to contact when I do have the shirts done.

< I do vinyl decals! I can see what I can do.

Like Steven mentioned earlier as well, I think the water-slide type decals will look better and more original. Can you do those?

I'd still be interested in a quote from anybody /everybody who can do the vinyl ones, so if you can do it, please PM me with a quote.

But... Surely there are enough people that would want replacement original looking decals (NO offense to the vinyl guys!) on their vintage toolboxes, even if it wasn't just the Plomb guys, to make it worthwhile for someone with the capabilities to do... I think it could be a nice little niche market that would do well. Just my $0.02.

I second that - I have not been able to locate a shop locally that will do it... although I have not looked - I can supply the hi res images if needed.

I'd go for some of those also.

A decal set would be cool, especially if magnet backed. I'd slap it right onto a HF 44" in place of the Emblem of Shame.

HAHAHA! I have mixed feelings about that...
In one way that would be AWESOME!
In another, I wouldn't want to degrade the Plomb name by letting it be associated with a HF box.

In the interest of full disclosure though, I do have the black Storehouse toolbox from HF because the Crapsman POS that I bought had several flaws (broken welds, misaligned drawers, etc) straight out of the box. All in all it's a great box, especially for the price.

I've got some Holman Moody stickers kicking around somewhere that would do in a pinch, but a 44" Plomb box would be a good(tm) thing.

Do you have dimension of the width from bottom corner to corner??

I'd have to defer that question to Steven67fr since he has the hi-res photo, and would probably have a better idea of the dimensions.

I'm checking into what it would take to do the waterslide decals. I have most of what it would take to do it already (via the wife's business), I just didn't want to take-up a new hobby or project. I'll update you guys if I decide to start playing with it.
