Got this at an estate sale yesterday:

It works, but the selector lever has broken off of the selector.

Will a current-production Proto 5649RK kit work in this, or does someone know where else I can get a replacement selector?

The kit looks identical, and the pawl springs could definitely stand to be replaced...

Nice lawsuit tool you have there. Yes the current kit will work in your ratchet. I would suggest just replacing the pawl and selector switch and keeping the rest though.

Lawsuit tool?

From looking at the kit, I think I'll keep the pawls, the gear/drive assembly, and replace the selector and the pawl springs. The existing pawls are in good shape.

That is an awesome ratchet! SC is correct, that tool is from the changeover period from when plomb became proto as a result of plumb's lawsuit and resulting penalties.

Great GREAT piece! If you ever want to trade it for something please let me know. That PROTO logo is so great! That is the type of the stuff I can never find on the East Coast!
