Plomb Puller

Rescued this Plomb 4001 puller from my local used tool store. I was getting a little bummed that my tool hunt was coming up empty, when I spotted this box hiding in the back of the store. It had a bunch of **** piled on top of it, and I didn't recognize what it was until the box was open. Its sitting in evaporust right now.

Its a long shot, but does anyone have a 4001S screw they want to part with? This one has seen a rough existence, the top is all mushroomed from someone hammering on it. I'll see if I can clean it up, but I don't know if I can save the logo.

I have an old PROTO 4001S puller that is almost the twin to that. Mine doesnt have the C shaped adapter or bolts but does have a T handle that slips over the forcing screw.

If you were after a new screw, I think this one would work.

Thanks I saw that, it should be the same screw. If I can't clean it up I'll pick that up. I paid $24 so the screw would more than double what I have into it.

Nice find! Can only guess what a beefy puller like that would cost today, and on top of that it's a Plomb!

I passed on the same puller set yesterday at the flew market. Two guys were working together. The first told me $25. I kept looking and picked up a few other things and was going to offer one price for everthing. Then his buddy came over and said no the puller is $40. All i bought from them was a broken herbrand ratchet for $1.

Give us a diameter and thread pitch. I may have a loose screw ;>)

For the seriously disturbed Plomb enthusiast: The C-shaped piece is for early Ford rear hubs, '29-48, so puller pulls with two arms on the actual hub. These things have big bolt circles and pulling from lugs is not considered good as the force can warp parts. There were adapters for other brands as well.

Thanks guys, I saw the Ford application in a Plomb catalog and then it all made sense.

Jack, the Proto 4001s forcing screw is listed as having a 1-8 thread, overall length is ~8".
